The legislative body of the City of Stockton may pass a resolution declaring that in its opinion public interest or necessity demands the creation and maintenance of the Stockton Metropolitan Transit District.

The legislative body of the City of Stockton may pass a resolution declaring that in its opinion public interest or necessity demands the creation and maintenance of the Stockton Metropolitan Transit District.

The resolution may state the transit facilities proposed to be first acquired, but failure to acquire such transit facilities shall not affect the validity of the district. The resolution shall set forth and describe the boundaries of the proposed district.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be presented to the Board of Supervisors of San Joaquin County requesting the board of supervisors to call an election without delay for determining whether the district will be created.
