(a)A physician, psychiatrist, oculist, dentist, dental hygienist, optometrist, otologist, podiatrist, audiologist, or nurse who is not employed in that capacity by the State Department of Public Health, shall not be, and any other person shall not be, employed or permitted to supervise the health and physical development of students unless they hold a services credential with a specialization in health or a valid credential issued before November 27, 1970, or unless they meet applicable minimum qualifications established by the board of governors.
(b)Any psychologist employed pursuant to this section shall hold a school psychologist credential, a general pupil personnel services credential authorizing service as a school

psychologist, a standard designated services credential with a specialization in pupil personnel services authorizing service as a psychologist, a services credential issued by the board of governors or the Commission on Teacher Credentialing or meet applicable minimum qualifications established by the board of governors.

(c)An authorization for service as a school nurse shall not authorize teaching services unless the individual is qualified for faculty service pursuant to minimum qualifications established by the board of governors.
(d)A physician employed by a community college district to perform medical services on a halftime or greater than halftime basis shall hold a valid certificate to practice medicine and surgery issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California. The qualifications for a physician employed for less than halftime

shall be a valid certificate to practice medicine and surgery issued by the Medical Board of California.
