§ 1955.2

Notwithstanding subdivision (c) of Section 1731.5, when an individual under 18 years of age is convicted of an offense in superior court on or after July 1, 2021, and sentenced to state prison, that individual shall remain in a county juvenile facility until the individual reaches 18 years of age and may be transferred to state prison. The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shall pay a daily rate of six hundred fourteen dollars and forty-four cents ($616.44) to a county for the number of days a qualifying individual is in a local juvenile facility. This section only applies once an individual has been convicted and is under 18 years of age. This section does not require the county of conviction to enter into a contract with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the care and custody of the individuals

described in this section.
