The department may consult with the Department of Insurance or the Department of Managed Health Care, and shall consult with the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse within the Office of the Attorney General, the appropriate licensing boards, and the laboratory field services unit of the department, for the purposes of determining the qualifications, performance capability, and financial stability of prospective contractors.
